In Final Fantasy X a new language is introduced called Al Bhed, the Al Bhed speak a different language to the rest of Spira - so to learn this language you have to collect the Al Bhed Primer's from around the world.
With every Primer you gain eventually your rank will go up, to check your rank and compile your Primers go to the Al Bhed Inn at Lake Macalania, and press X on the Sphere on the floor.
